States and Nationals are coming up. This is when 703 needs to support each other and bring the trophy back to the 703! What teams will be competing in states and nationals this year? and do we have a chance?

Yes, bids are out - have been for more than a week. Teams with a bid need to get on the ball: pay the fee, print out team roster from team page and have team sign it, return it to me at the fields or by mail within the next 10 days.

Gameface will be making the trip. We can expect Firm and Primetime to be joining them. That should only leave 1 more slot for VA in the national Tournament. Maybe 2 slots bc Firm is the DC.

The only trip local teams will be making is around the block and past a few lights. Nationals is being hosted here in Fairfax County. We were awarded this earlier in the year. We got the State Tournament when Williamsburg defaulted - otherwise we would be hosting the State Tournament next year.

State Tournament: Bids have already been sent to coaches - if yours got one he is aware of it. Tournament fee payment link is on this site. Rosters are downloadable and printable from this site.
Nationals: from IFFL MD league which finished this past weekend: 1) Gameface, 2) TMT, 3) Truth, 4) TC.
From VA: DC) FIRM, 1) AmFam, 2) Primetime, 3) R&B, 4) 7 pt Spread, 5) WEWE. Then there is NY, OH, WV and PA.

Every state usually gets 4 bids. So gameface, TMT, TC, and Truth were able to earn National Tournament invites by playing in PG County for one season. Because they didn`t earn them last season.
This means there will be 9-10 teams from VA at that National Tournament. And maybe 2-4 teams will travel from the other states.

The Maryland League is not brand new, it was just dormant for a while (18 months to be exact) because none of us had the time to put into it. That has changed. Its not a one time thing - we are going to continue to run it every year like we did for 5 straight years.
As the Tournament Director (host league of host state), I am the one talking to the out of state teams and receiving the registrations. We should have 19 or 20 attending teams:
VA: 6 (DC,1,2,3,4,5) - 1 VA beach, 2 Richmond, 2 Harrisonburg, 1 Fairfax
MD: 4
WV: 5 (won consolation in WV last year so gets extra berth)
OH: 2
NY: 2
possible at-large for PA or DC, still talking to both.

VA is the only state that allocates bids a year in advance. WV has not even played its State Tournament yet to allocate all bids (its this weekend in Wheeling).

I only meant that there always seems to be no shows at the national tourney. And the MD teams are essentially VA teams just playing in MD.

Nationals = a 703 tournament. Doesn`t quite have a "National" feel to it when there are 5 teams from this league playing in it. With that being said, gl to those teams.

so winning a 5 team league in Maryland that is full of VA teams gets you a national bid? WTF? I mean really, do you even say congrats to a team that won a 5 team league. Poor form Bundy, poor form.
