My how one week changes the whole playoff picture. Coming into this week it looked like Union would most likely slip to 4th or 5th based on their remaining schedule and Novacaine was a shoo in for A Playoffs. Now with Novacaine losing a close one it appears they will be fighting for their playoff lives over these last 3 weeks and Union could easily finish #1 in the West. Badboyz dropped a shocking loss to Bootleggers which puts their playoff lives in doubt.
We can pretty much call this a bye week for most of the East contenders. 7pt, Wolves, and Greyhounds were all off this week, and TC had the equivalent of a bye week vs. Lunatics. The only big game was CCR vs. Rejects and Rejects are proving to be a contender for the last playoff spot in A after a tough start to the season. CCR appears poised for B Playoffs. Here`s the breakdown of the West and the games remaining
A look ahead to this week and we have some great action in both divisions.
Monday Night we have a great matchup between Badboyz and Magnums. Magnums are sitting on top of the West Division right now with one close loss to Union. Badboyz are fighting for their playoff lives. The knock on them as always been the difficulty in getting enough of their playmakers to show up during the regular season. I can guarantee they will have everyone there full force this week and if so, should be able to steal a win and stay alive.
Union has an interesting scenario Monday night. They first play Ether, who they should be able to destroy no problem, but then have to finish a game that was postponed earlier in the season due to the lights going out or something. If I recall there was about 12 minutes left in the game and Hokies were up 7-3, but Union was in the redzone about to score. If hokies can hold on, it will really shake up the West picture. Unfortunately I think Union rides their momentum to get two W`s here.
Wednesday Night - this is primetime football at Poplar Tree. Game 1 has proven to be a bigger deal than originally expected with both teams now hanging on to the A playoffs. One of these teams will walk away with their third loss (assuming no tie) and will have to win the rest of their games. That`s no easy task for either team considering their remaining schedule. I think Novacaine takes this one in a low scoring, close battle. I can see Wolves having trouble yet again w/ numbers.
Then afterwards we have an East showdown between TC and Greyhounds. Dre vs. Hollywood is almost as good as mayweather/mosley! Greyhounds are another team trying to hang on to that last playoff spot and a loss here could end those chances. They have remaining games against CCR, Wolves, and Union - the new West Frontrunner. Greyhounds have to hope they catch TC in one of those trap games as TC looks ahead to the following week`s showdown vs. 7pt Spread. I think TC takes this but might not be as easy as originally expected.
